With all that's going on in the world - Where is God?
I don’t write about my faith often enough. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that I feel unworthy of the undertaking. Besides, there are sixty six books in the Bible already and countless other sources for material.
One of my favourite books in the Bible is Ecclesiastes, believed by many to have been written by Solomon in his later years, a man synonomous with wisdom. Ecclesiastes talks of vanity, of there being nothing new under the sun, that everything is just chasing after the wind.
What more could I add?
I guess I’m going to give it a shot, I’m going to chase the wind. While it’s true there are already mountains of material of this nature out there, maybe I can say things in a certain way, with my own particular turn of phrase. Maybe that will cause one unbelieving person to dig deeper. Or maybe someone who’s questioning their faith will find some meaning. That at least is my hope.
A common question, or perhaps it’s more of a complaint, is that if there is indeed a God, then why is the world so full of pain, heartache and misery. Some see the state of the world and consider it proof that there is no God. Others will allow that perhaps there is a God, but if there is, it’s a God that doesn’t care. An absentee landlord so to speak.
These are absolutely fair questions, and one Christians often struggle to answer.
I suppose I could go back to the Book of Job, but that was written thousands of years ago, and I don’t think it plays too well to people living in the 21st century. Recently though a thought occured to me that might help some grasp how a Christian can believe in an all powerful and loving God in spite of all the pain in the world.
I’m going to use an odd analogy, something from popular culture. Its from the first “Karate Kid'“ movie, the one with Ralph Machio. In that film the character of Daniel is being beaten up by kids proficient in martial arts. An old karate expert by the name of Mr. Miyagi agrees to train Daniel in the art of self defense, instructing him to come to his house.
Daniel arrives expecting to start learning karate, but instead is given chores to do: Sanding a wooden floor, washing and waxing cars, painting Mr. Miyagi’s fence and house. Not only is Daniel told what to do, but he is given specific instructions on “how” it is to be done.
After three days of toiling away Daniel has had enough. It is said that faith is belief in things unseen, and Daniel’s faith is shaken. He doesn’t see himself learning karate, he only sees himself being Mr. Miyagi’s personal slave. If you’ve seen the movie you know what happens. Daniel’s eyes are opened and he is shown that the repetitive movements he was employing in sanding the deck, painting the fence and waxing the car, that they’re defensive karate movements he can use to protect himself.
The Bible has many accounts of Jesus healing the blind, but there is more to blindness than just being unable to see things in the physical world. There are many things people can be blind to. And one of those things is evidence of heaven, of life everlasting.
We are living in challenging times, many are waking up to the fact that our world is being torn down, a “Great Reset” is what they’re calling it. Many are longing for a return to the way things were just a couple years ago. But when you think of that world realize that there was much about it that was was evil and anything but Godly.
Child labour and even slavery was (and still is) used to fill the shelves in an effort to quench never ending consumer demands. The parts and components of so much of the technology we enjoy are being mined by people living in abject poverty, all so we can have things like cheap cell phones.
The world that the architects of this ‘Great Reset’ agenda see emerging is beyond demonic. There’s talk of an electronic ID implanted in peoples hands, 24/7 surveillance of all of humankind, even chips implanted in people’s brains that would allow digital downloads of everyone’s thoughts and even their dreams.
We’ve put so much of our faith into science and technology, and it is not going to end well for those who have this faith. God is in charge and He is orchestrating everything. Remember that it was The Almighty who hardened Pharoh’s heart so that God could make known his power and glory to His chosen people. Had Pharoh simply bowed to God’s will right at the start and let the Hebrew slaves go, then none of that glory would have been manifest.
Hold fast to your faith, and if this is new to you….trust me, there is a God in heaven, the creator of all things. God in is in charge, it is God who is orchestrating the takedown of this beastly world, our job is to simply have faith and trust in Him.
Spoiler alert, God wins in the end and those pushing this lying and deceitful agenda branded as a ‘Great Reset’, they lose. Hold fast to truth and reject the liars and their master, he was a liar from the begining and his servants are lying now.
Victory is God’s, but understand that the finish line will be beyond your vision if you think this life is the only life.
Peace and Blessings.
